also, cancel your Sat plans now :) If this is your first Heater Core replacement, it will piss you off if you're trying to do it within a certain timeframe. Maybe this will help you from my 95NA experience. I read all about guys doing it from the bottom without removing the dash and then all about guys removing the dash and everything else between it and the heater core. I did a hybrid of the two. I removed the dash(easy as pie to do, about an hour of leisurely work). This enabled me to actually see & easily remove the electrical components that activate the heater core. But as hard as I tried, I couldn't simply push-up(per one TTers directions who said he's done a couple of heater-core replacements already) the 2 water pipes coming from the firewall enough to then just slide-out the heater core, even with the the engine-bay rubber grommet removed and the rubber pipes disconnected from the engine to give it more movement. So I unbolted & removed that shiny aluminum plate from the firewall just above the gas pedal, then I removed the heater core's plastic valve from the water pipe, used a pry bar to push the water pipes up & out of the way, and then I was able to yank and pull the heater core out. Re-assembly of that plastic valve onto the water pipe and then onto the new heater core(once it's installed) was tricky and required me to use some one of those very small(3 inches long), stubby, ratchet, 90 degree, insert screwdrivers from Home Depot Tool dept. I also decided to reinstall the valve's little stainless steel screws backyards into their original holes to make reinstallation easier on my fingers(this required a little grinding wheel work on the plastic valve to accept the screw's nuts going in on the reverse side of their opening). But after an hour of being upside down on the front floor board with some nimble fingerwork I got it done.....only to have to do it all over again because I forgot to reinstall the new rubber o-ring. Anyway, good luck with it.
